Depth matchup is each team's share of the two teams' combined depth, so it adds to 100% and 50/50 is an even matchup (the same balance as the game page). It's relative: a below-average team can still out-depth a shallower opponent. The rank beside it is each team's league depth rank going in, the same numbers as Shape of the Season below. Going in uses each team's last 10 games this season, so it's jumpy for the first couple of weeks. Once the puck drops it blends toward tonight's numbers, fully live after 40 minutes or enough shots.
